Martin's Weizenbock Recipe Kit

Brew authentic beer at home the way it is meant to taste. This Weizenbock recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Weizenbock, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.

Weizenbock is what happens when you brew a wheat beer to the strength of a bock. Schneider's Aventinus is the beer that set the standard, and the template is a strong, dark, wheat-driven ale where the familiar banana and clove of the yeast deepen into dark fruit like plum and raisin over a full, bready malt body.

At close to 7 percent it is warming without being hot, a beer for cold weather rather than a summer afternoon. It carries the carbonation and haze of a weissbier but drinks with far more weight, closer to a liquid slice of dark bread and fruit.

Fermentables

• 8.0 oz · Rice Hulls
• 7 lbs · Wheat Malt, Pale (Weyermann) → we include Appalachian Wheat Malt

• 2 lbs · Munich Malt - 10L
• 8.0 oz · Caramunich® I → we include Crystal 50
• 4.0 oz · Chocolate Malt
• 4.0 oz · Melanoidin

Hops

• 1 oz · Perle Pellets (Boil, 60.0 min)

Yeast

• Hefeweizen Ale (White Labs WLP300) → we include SafAle WB-06 (Wheat)

A Note On Substitutions

This kit includes Appalachian Wheat Malt in place of the recipe's Wheat Malt, Pale (Weyermann); Crystal 50 in place of the recipe's Caramunich® I. We stock dry yeast only, so SafAle WB-06 (Wheat) dry yeast stands in for the recipe's Hefeweizen Ale (White Labs WLP300).
