It could be the easiest beer recipe you ever brew. This American Pale Ale recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Tropical Pale Ale with Steam Hops, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.

This is a pale ale tuned for hop aroma over bitterness. The grist stays light and clean so a run of Cascade, Amarillo, and Citra can bring grapefruit, orange, and tropical fruit without much getting in the way. At around 5.5% it drinks easily for how much hop character it carries.

The recipe uses a steam-hopping step, adding hops to the hot vapor above the wort rather than straight into a rolling boil. The aim is to pull bright aroma from the hops while holding back the harsher bittering, so the finish reads juicy instead of sharp.

A Note On Substitutions

This kit includes 2-Row Pale Malt in place of the recipe's 2-row American Pale Malt (Briess); Great Chit in place of the recipe's Carapils®. We stock dry yeast only, so LalBrew BRY-97 (West Coast Ale) dry yeast stands in for the recipe's Northwest Ale (Wyeast Labs 1332).
