Brew tasty beer at home with real, fresh ingredients. This Belgian Tripel recipe kit comes with every pre-measured ingredient you need to brew Martin's Syla, a 5-gallon all-grain batch, from grain to glass.

The tripel was made famous by the monks at Westmalle, a strong golden ale that hides its strength behind a dry, drinkable body. Expect pale gold color, a fluffy white head, and spicy yeast phenols alongside pear-like fruit. Table sugar thins the finish so a beer near 8 percent never feels heavy or sweet.

Syla follows that template and adds a touch of black pepper, ground in by the brewer, echoing the peppery note the yeast already throws. High carbonation keeps it bright and lifts the aromatics.

A Note On Substitutions

This kit includes Crystal 50 in place of the recipe's Caramunich® II; Appalachian Wheat Malt in place of the recipe's Wheat Malt, Pale (Weyermann). We stock dry yeast only, so SafAle BE-256 (Belgian Abbey) dry yeast stands in for the recipe's SafBrew Specialty Ale (DCL/Fermentis T-58). Not included, add your own: 3.00 g Black Pepper.
