LB 28 Christ & Gantenbein - Swiss National Museum

Seeing the stark concrete shell of the Swiss National Museum’s new extension juxtaposed with the ornate historicist style of Gustav Gull’s original 1898 design is a striking visual contrast—one that embodies the dialogue between past and present. 'Christ & Gantenbein: Swiss National Museum', the 28th title in the Long Books Collection, documents the first phase of the museum’s ambitious renovation. Featuring essays and discussions with key figures, this volume explores the architects’ approach to restoring and expanding a national landmark, balancing preservation with contemporary architectural expression.
