Essential David Everett Reader by David Everett

Used. Paperback. Pianist, iconoclast, and Texas raconteur David Everett tickled the ivories and the funny bone with equal facility, spinning a life that swung from East Texas wartime childhoods to playing behind the Iron Curtain. This droll and deeply affecting collection charts the maestro’s journey through mid-century military stints, university days in Austin, and decades of living large despite a sobering Parkinson's diagnosis at forty-five. Everett approaches his own trials with sublime sensitivity and a sharp, unrepentant wit that treats prose not merely as a craft, but as a pure act of love. Whether he is chronicling the traumas of the sixties or his eventual Mexican retirement, this maestro’s melodies remain effortlessly entertaining.
